All We Wanted for Christmas

Christmas was a bit more hectic than usual this year with the anticipated arrival of our newest family member.  With a due date of December 30th and an appointment to be induced on December 22nd, we were pretty sure we still had most of the month to get all of our holiday activities in.  Mom was especially happy because going in on the 22nd meant being home for the sheer excitement of Christmas morning...because we all know Mom doesn't miss a trick!  It also meant we could make plans with family to celebrate the first few weekends of the month and still have one weekend as a family to do our own little holiday things.

Well, as we know, nothing ever goes as planned
but everything certainly does always work out for the best.

Mom left work at 11am on Thursday, December 12th, not feeling so good...really sore legs and a really hard belly.  Since Thomas was born very quickly, the doctor asked us to go straight to St. Claire's to get checked out.  We were at the hospital by 1:30pm and the monitor indicated consistent contractions.  Dr. Wallis said we had to stay and he'd be over to see us as soon as his office hours were done.  After remaining on the monitor for several hours nothing changed at all.  Dr. Wallis came and said he didn't feel comfortable sending us home and that we had to stay the night because it seemed like things just HAD to progress at some point.  He went out to dinner and stopped back to see us at about 10pm and by that point things had progressed, but not significantly.  There are a lot of rules, all of a sudden, in the healthcare profession.  The doctor's hands were tied and he couldn't help labor progress because of several of those rules.  So we waited patiently.  Contractions got a little stronger but still nothing really, really moved along.  Then, all of a sudden- about 11:30pm, my water broke.  That set everything in motion!  About an hour later on Friday, December 13th at 12:38am....
it's another healthy, beautiful baby boy!!

Jonathan was 5lbs.14oz and 19.5inches long.

And Mom was thrilled that he was healthy and here!

Two proud and excited "big brodders".

One lucky mama!
And now we are a happy family of five.
Welcome to the family baby Jonathan!  We are so happy to have you.
